The Philadelphia Phillies (65-44) entered Friday hopeful for a win with their newfound star taking the mound. That hope would be short lived, however, as Tyler Phillips (3-1, 4.39 ERA) was driven from the game after allowing eight runs in just 1 2/3 innings. The skid continues as the Phillies are now 3-10 since the All-Star Break.

    Woo's Gem

The Seattle Mariners (58-53) got an outstanding performance from their young pitcher Bryan Woo (5-1, 2.08 ERA). Allowing no runs on five hits and no walks while striking out six in seven innings, it was everything the Mariners could hope for and more against the Phillies potent offense.

    Phillies Bullpen Steps Up

After Phillips was forced out of the game early, the Phillies bullpen was called on to step up. And they did so in a big way. Pitching a combined 5 1/3 innings, allowing only two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six, it was the only silver lining for the Phillies in Friday's game. Garrett Stubbs would pitch in the eighth inning.

Winning Probability Added Leader of the Game

Friday's WPA leader of the game was Mariners first baseman Luke Raley . Raley went ONE-for-THREE with a three-run home run in the second that gave the Mariners a 4-0 lead. It was Raley's 12th home run of the season. Luke Raley ended the night with a WPA score of 18.6.

    Next Up

Next up for the Phillies is game two of this three-game weekend series. The Phillies will send Kolby Allard (0-0, 6.75 ERA) to the mound, while the Mariners will counter with Bryce Miller (8-7, 3.46 ERA).

The first pitch for Saturday's game is scheduled for 9:40 PM EST. The game will be broadcast nationally on MLB Network (out-of-market only) as well as NBC Sports Philadelphia and ROOTNW. Phillies fans can listen to the game on 94 WIP or WTTM 1680.
