Philadelphia Eagles make roster move, claiming former Jets player on waivers

The Philadelphia Eagles added to their training camp roster over the weekend by getting active on the waiver wire.

There, the team was awarded undrafted rookie tight end Kevin Foelsch, who was released Friday by the New York Jets.

In a corresponding move, the Eagles released another undrafted rookie tight end, McCallan Castles, with an injury designation.

A year ago, Foelsch scored seven touchdowns at Division II University of New Haven, and the Eagles will be his third pro team. He first joined Carolina, then joined the Jets' 90-man roster after a rookie minicamp tryout.

With the Eagles, Foelsch will be key depth and is actually in a pretty good spot for an undrafted player. Things appear wide open in the race for the third spot on the depth chart behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra. Veterans C.J. Uzomah and Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. have underwhelmed with a combination of drops and a general lack of plays.

The position has been in stark contrast to say, some of the breakout performances at running back and unexpected names making a serious push to be the third wideout in the Jalen Hurts-led attack.
