Sha’Carri Richardson has a lot to be proud of in her first Olympic showing. And she is now an Olympic medalist. She scored the silver medal on Saturday in the 100-meter race with a time of 10.87 seconds. The winner was Julien Alfred from St. Lucia who ran it in 10.72 seconds.

Vernon Norwood and Team USA claimed the silver medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay. The team also broke a world record by becoming the first team to do it faster than 3:08.

This silver medal is the third of Norwood’s career. He won four NCAA championships in only two seasons. Norwood also became the 14th collegiate athlete in history to take NCAA indoor and outdoor titles in the 400 meters in the same season.

Pole vaulter Mondo Duplantis will compete on Monday to add to the medal count for LSU. He is also trying to join American Bob Richards as the only competitors to win gold in pole vaulting in back-to-back Olympics. Duplantis won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
