The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Seattle Mariners 6-0 at T-Mobile Park in the series finale on Sunday to grab their first win in seven games.

Here is what you need to know from Sunday's contest.

    Classic Wheeler on the Mound

And it was exactly what the Phillies needed.

The All Star pitcher Zack Wheeler had a fantastic performance on the hill on Sunday, bouncing back from his dreadful start the last time we saw him against the New York Yankees. Wheeler pitched an eight inning shutout against the Mariners and allowed only two hits across his time on the mound. He recorded nine strikeouts in the outing, his most since May 6th. Wheeler produced 14 whiffs for a 30 CSW%.

It will be crucial down the stretch for the Phillies for Wheeler to show his best stuff as the division lead has dropped somewhat during the losing streak. He will have another chance to pitch on the road trip as he is scheduled to go against the Arizona Diamondbacks next weekend.

    Schwarber Gets it Started

The game had a different feeling compared to the last few, it was obvious the Phillies knew the importance of getting out of the funk they were in. Kyle Schwarber set the tone for the team right off the bat with his 41st leadoff home run of his career.

His tenth leadoff homer for Schwarber only trails Alfonso Soriano of the 2003 New York Yankees by three for the most lead off home runs in a single season. He still has 51 games to catch the 21 year old record.

    Turning Point for the Phillies?

If the Phillies get back on the right track after this one, lets call the eighth inning the team's inflection point moving forward.

It was a home run party for the team to add some much needed insurance to ensure they grabbed their first wins since July 27th. Philadelphia picked up five runs off three homers in the inning including one by Bryce Harper who is starting to show signs that he is out of his slump.

The homer was Harper's 25th of the season and picked up two extra base hits in the last two games. Let's see if he can career that momentum into the Elysian Park neighborhood. The other home runs in the inning were from Bryson Stott (8) and Alec Bohm (12).

    What's Next

The Phillies will move on to their next stop of the road trip as they are set to begin a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The first pitch for the series opener on Monday is scheduled for 10:10 PM EST.
