The Philadelphia Eagles are a team that many people will be keeping a close eye on during the 2024 season. Some major turnover occurred on the coaching staff and roster as they look to reassert their standing as Super Bowl contenders.
For the third time in as many seasons, Nick Sirianni will have different coordinators for offense and defense. He was able to avoid being fired this offseason, but his seat is certainly warming up after last season’s collapse.
The Eagles did a good job this offseason of upgrading some of the weaknesses on the roster to ensure that doesn’t happen again. But, there are still a few areas of the roster that could use improvement.
Those voids are unlikely to be fixed before the 2024 regular season but are worth keeping an eye on throughout the campaign. One of the positions Philadelphia needs to find upgrades at is linebacker.
Over at Bleacher Report , their scouting department put linebacker at No. 4 on the Eagles’ biggest weaknesses. No. 2 cornerback, right guard and No. 3 wide receiver were the weaknesses listed ahead of the linebacker.
That is a position the people over at Bleacher Report believe Philadelphia will fill during the 2025 NFL offseason in free agency. They have suggested San Francisco 49ers star linebacker Dre Greenlaw as a potential target.
“Free-agent signings Devin White and Zack Baun are on one-year deals and Nakobe Dean is only signed through 2025. So, the Eagles will likely need a linebacker in the offseason and Greenlaw will be one of the best available.
Granted, that will depend on how he recovers from the torn Achilles he suffered in the Super Bowl, but the 27-year-old will be over a year removed from the injury by the time free agency rolls around,” as written at Bleacher Report.
Greenlaw suffered the devastating injury while running onto the field after a punt against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. The Eagles could be getting some value in 2025, as it is anyone’s guess as to how much Greenlaw will play in 2024 and what kind of impact he will have.
A fifth-round pick out of Arkansas in the 2019 NFL Draft, Greenlaw has been very productive at the second level of the 49ers’ defense. He has recorded 120+ tackles in two straight seasons, covering the field sideline-to-sideline alongside Fred Warner.
