The Philadelphia Eagles have added a solid depth piece to their linebacker room.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles kicked off the week by signing Shaquille Quarterman to a one-year deal on Monday.

It's a decent signing considering the Eagles could use the extra depth at linebacker with Oren Burks dealing with a knee injury and Brandon Smith in concussion protocol.

This also isn't the first time that Quarterman has been to Philly as he tried out with the Birds during rookie minicamp back in May, alongside fellow veteran John Ross .

Quarterman, a product of the Miami Hurricanes, was originally a 2020 fourth-round pick (No. 140 overall) by the Jacksonville Jaguars. In four seasons with the Jags, he appeared in 65 games without making one start, though he was a major special teams contributor where a majority of his snaps came from.

In 2023, Quarterman saw action in all 17 games, recording two tackles while playing 51 percent of the Jags' special teams snaps.

Quarterman has a total of 55 tackles and one forced fumble to his name so far.

Before entering the league, Quarterman starred at Miami where he was a three-time All-ACC player with two first-team nods and one second-team nod. In his final season with the Hurricanes before the draft, he recorded 107 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and one forced fumble.

Quarterman joins the Eagles just in time for their first preseason game on Friday against the Baltimore Ravens.
