Phillipsburg, NJ – From Wednesday, July 24, to Saturday, July 27, Phillipsburg hosted a vibrant cheerleading clinic that saw nearly 300 participants from four local recreational cheerleading programs: Little Liners, Steele Hill, Lopatcong, and Pohatcong. The event culminated in the annual showcase on July 27, 2024.
Throughout the week, Phillipsburg High School (PHS) cheerleaders mentored their assigned 'buddy' teams, collaborating with coaches to develop unique routines featuring new skills and stunts. The high school cheerleaders, who had been preparing for the clinic months in advance, led the event, ensuring a fun and educational experience for the younger cheerleaders.
The showcase on Saturday featured the performances of these routines. It also included jump-off and tumble-off contests and an award ceremony for 8th grade All-Stars. Twenty-eight 8th graders competed in a tryout process on Friday afternoon, and eleven were awarded the prestigious All-Star Award:
All-Star Award Recipients:
Little Liners: Bella Keller
Lopatcong: Alex Ordona, Lilliana Stutz, Madison Wayne, Charolette Wells, Jordan Francis
Pohatcong: Caylee Baylor, Zoey Amaro
Steele Hill: Keira Robinson, Lexonni Talley, Madison Whitman
The coaches expressed their gratitude, saying, “We are so grateful for the school district and community support for this event and to our PHS Cheerleading parents for all of their work this past week!”
