It’s the final summer weekend for kids in the Philadelphia school district.

School begins on Monday and Superintendent Doctor Tony Watlington talked to PHL17 about enhancements to school safety.

“The expansion of our safe paths programs, expansion of safety zones, we talked about installing 150 new cameras in schools across the city,” said Doctor Watlington. “We talked about also investing in our young people and their social, and emotional, and mental health and wellbeing.”

Doctor Watlington added that the district has set up free online resources to help both students and teachers throughout the school year.
