DOYLESTOWN, PA — Smooth jazz playing on the sound system sets the ambience inside Cafe with Soul , a homestyle restaurant in Doylestown, Penn. Unlike most restaurants, this charming diner that cooks up lemon cake pancakes with a blueberry suprise, Rock-n-Roll omelets topped with chorizo, along with other breakfast favorites, lunch and dinner, Cafe with Soul is a non-profit organization with a mission to transform the lives of children, teens and young adults through music and STEM programs in local schools.

“I played the flute in middle school,” said Kayla Andreotis, the manager at Cafe with Soul. “These programs are so important because they keep kids out of trouble, they give kids things to do other than run around and doing things they’re not supposed to be doing. And that helps the community grow and be better and help future generations.”

Proceeds generated within Cafe with Soul support musical and STEM education and scholarships for local schools. Since opening in 2019, Cafe with Soul has funded more than$225,000 which has been provided and/or pledged for STEM and Music Programs within the Bucks County community.

Andreotis said the foundation of service on which Cafe with Soul operates made it easy to join the list of restaurants participating in the Eat, Drink and Be Merry Month fundraiser. From August 15 to September 15, 33 restaurants are donating a portion of revenue to Kin Wellness & Support , a non-profit with a facility dedicated to helping cancer patients and their caregivers.

“It’s that circle of life where we’re getting footfall in multiple businesses, they’re succeeding and their success transfers to us and we’re able to help as many people as we possibly can.” said Keith Fenimore, founder of Kin Wellness & Support.

Kin Wellness & Support offers cancer patients massages, facials, reiki reflexology access bars, acupuncture, chiropractic, counseling, therapeutic support, along with a robust offering of nutritional education and fitness including yoga, and Barre3. Keith said the Center is the one place cancer patients look forward to visiting during their cancer journey. Massage therapists, chiropractors and fitness instructors volunteer their time to provide all of the services within Kin for free. However, Keith said, many of their clients look forward to seeing their Buck County neighbors who are battling the same disease.

The spirit of Kin derives from the word ‘kindred,'” Fenimore explains. “You have your immediate family, but then you also have the family you meet throughout your cancer journey. I also like the fact that ‘kin’ plays on the word ‘kind,’ so we incorporate that “be kind” motto into our events.”

Eat, Drink & Be Merry Month runs through September 15. For a list of participating restaurants, scroll down on the Eat, Drink & Be Merry Month page.
