    Special events coming to Franklin Square this Fall

    As Fall slowly approaches, you may want to start planning all the fun seasonal activities you will be participating in. With expensive Halloween costumes, haunted houses, and more, Franklin Square wants to take the ease off your wallet with an entire season full of FREE or discounted events for the whole family to enjoy.

    Throughout September and October, the following special events are being offered at Franklin Square:

    FREE monthly classes :

    • Parenting Skills Class:
      • Franklin Square will offer FREE classes every 2 nd and 4 th Thursday of the month in September from 10-11 a.m.
      • Kaila Dickstein, Psy.D. from TAFT Psychological Services discusses topics and tools for new parents such as parenting and career, from baby development through the early years.
    • Yoga in the Square:
      • Sundays through September 29, 10-11 a.m.
      • Bring a yoga mat for free outdoor Ashtanga Yoga. All experience levels are welcome.
    • Tai Chi in the Square:
      • Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 7:30-8:30 am
      • All are welcome to join the free Franklin Square Tai Chi Group. The club meets next to the Fountain in the center of the Square, or in the Pavilion on chilly or wet days.

    Storytime in the Square :

    • On September 4 and 18 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Ms. Chen from the Independence Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia will host free storytime and crafts in the Pavilion.
    • You can expect stories, rhymes, and dancing to explore different themes throughout the season ending with bubbles and fun crafts.
    • All kids and their caregivers are welcome.

    Grandparents’ Day in Franklin Square :

    • On Sunday, September 8, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. treat your grandparents to a ride on the Parx Liberty Carousel.
    • Buy one ticket and get one free.

    Franklin Square Play Day :

    • On September 14 and 28, from 12-2 p.m., Franklin Square will have free crafts and games, giant bubbles, music, fitness fun, and play for children with YoYo.

    Spooky Mini Golf :

    • On October 1 – 31 from 6-9 p.m. Philly Mini Golf will transform into spooky fun for the season with fog, lights, music, and surprises.
    • Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for children.

    Pumpkin Patch :

    • On Saturday, October 19, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. pick a pumpkin out of the Pumpkin Patch and decorate it to take home.
    • FREE for children 10 and under.

    Trick-or-Treat Street :

    • On October 26, 12 – 2 p.m. head to Franklin Square for their annual Trick-or-Treat Street.
    • Children follow the Trick-or-Treat Street and receive treats at houses along the way.
    • Free games, giant bubbles, music, fitness fun, and play for children with YoYo.
    • FREE for children 10 and under.
    • Register on historicphiladelphia.org . (Capacity is limited)

    Bark-or-Treat Trail :

    • On Sunday, October 27, 12-2 pm dress up your dog and take them to Franklin Square for a “pup-tastic” Halloween event.
    • Dogs are encouraged to dress in costume, follow a trail of treats, and collect helpful information for their owners.
    • Enjoy music, photo opportunities, and a place to play and run in the Square. (Giveaways while supplies last.)

    Throughout the Fall, Franklin Square will be open:

    • September 1 and 2: daily, 10 am – 9 pm
    • September 3 – 30: daily, 10 am – 7 pm
    • October 1 – 31: daily, 10 am – 9 pm
