The Indiana Fever are set to travel to Phoenix on Sunday to face Diana Taurasi and the Mercury. This will mark the first meeting between one of the greatest women's basketball players of all time and young star Caitlin Clark. Taurasi spoke about the game and facing the extremely talented rookie out of Iowa for the first time.

"Yeah, it'll be fun," Taurasi said via Desert Wave Media on X.

Taurasi kept it short and sweet, much like she did with her controversial comment when Clark was entering the 2024 WNBA draft. Before Clark's debut with the Fever, Taurasi said, "Reality is coming" for Clark.

The first-year pro has helped Indiana to a 7-11 record while leading all rookies with averages of 16.3 points and 6.6 assists per game.

WNBA fans have pitted Taurasi and Clark against each other after the veteran's comment, so there will be plenty of eyes on the game looking for any interaction between the two.

They were linked both by Taurasi's predraft comment and her berth on the Team USA roster for the Summer Olympics, which many believe should have been Clark's spot. With a 20-year age gap between the two stars, this could end up being a passing of the torch.

Clark is just getting started at 22, while Taurasi is on the final leg of her career at 42. Taurasi saying, "Yeah, it'll be fun," may stir the pot even more, considering her competitive history.
