Sharon Osbourne Forced to Cancel Public Appearance Due to Husband Ozzy's Health Struggles

Sharon Osbourne and her husband, Ozzy Osbourne , were supposed to be headed to Arizona in mid-July for a highly-anticipated and celebrity-studded event, but all that has changed.

In a statement Sharon, 71, shared in a now-deleted Instagram Story that has since been reposted by several outlets , the media personality explained that neither she nor her husband would be in Phoenix the weekend of July 12 for the Mad Monster Party because Ozzy is "unable to travel at this time."

"Regretfully the Osbourne family have to cancel our upcoming appearance at the Mad Monster Party in Phoenix because Ozzy is unable to travel at this time," she said, adding that the couple's son would still be headed to the horror and sci-fi-themed convention. "However Jack will be there flying the flag for the Osbournes."

"Everybody who bought the Osbourne package will of course get full refunds," Sharon continued. "We would like to thank you all for your constant support with Ozzy. It means so much to him, you have no idea."

"All I can do is apologize that we won't be there and I'm apologizing to the people we've let down from my heart. So god bless you all," she concluded. "Thank you so much."

Ozzy was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2003, and in the fall of 2019, he found himself in need of several spine surgeries as a result of a fall. It wasn't until years later, sometime in September 2023, that he scheduled his "final" neck surgery .

Despite recovering from the fall and all of the surgeries, Ozzy's continued health issues have forced him to cancel tours and pull out of music festivals . While speaking with Rolling Stone UK this past November, the Black Sabbath rocker suggested, "At best, I’ve got ten years left and when you’re older, time picks up speed."

The reality of his own mortality is something he's gotten quite comfortable with since first being diagnosed with the neurodegenerative disorder 16 years ago.

"At the start of my illness, when I stopped touring, I was really pissed off with myself, the doctors, and the world," he told the outlet at the time. "But as time has gone on, I’ve just gone, ‘Well, maybe I’ve just got to accept that fact.’"
