Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has made WNBA history once again. This time, it came against Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner, and the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday afternoon.

Early in the second quarter, Clark picked up her third assist on a pass to Aliyah Boston for a layup. In doing this, Clark broke the Fever record for most assists in a rookie season, surpassing former Indiana and current Los Angeles Sparks point guard Julie Allemand.

During the 2024 WNBA season, Clark has recorded 129 assists, topping Allemand's previous record of 128 assists from her rookie season in 2020. Clark achieved this feat in just 20 games, whereas it took Allemand 22 games to reach her number.

During last Thursday's game against the Seattle Storm, Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to accumulate 300 points, 100 rebounds, and 100 assists. This new record adds to the former Iowa Hawkeyes star's already impressive list of accomplishments.

Clark and the Fever are looking to end their two-game losing streak against the Mercury. They currently sit at 7-12 on the season, good for fifth place in the WNBA Eastern Conference standings.

Allemand was selected in the third round of the 2016 WNBA Draft. She didn't join the Fever until 2020, her lone season with the team. During that year, she broke the original Indiana rookie assists record. However, the season was shortened due to COVID.
