The Phoenix Mercury may not have had the outcome they wanted on Sunday afternoon, but the organization can be happy about the fan turnout for its matchup against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.

The Mercury sold out the Footprint Center with 17,071 fans in attendance for the regular-season clash.

"17,071 in attendance. Women’s basketball is in good hands," the team wrote on X.

"Who watches women’s basketball? All 17,071 of us!" Phoenix added in a follow-up post.

Sunday's game marked the Mercury's eighth sellout of the 2024 WNBA season. This means the Phoenix franchise has sold out all but two of its home games so far this year.

According to Desert Wave Media, this number marks the second-highest attendance figure in franchise history — trailing only the 17,747 fans who attended a matchup against the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA's inaugural 1997 season.

The Mercury will look to bounce back in a home matchup against the Connecticut Sun on Monday night.
