Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Christian Walker put himself in the national spotlight this week by continuing his dominance of the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium.

But for as impressive as his hitting is in Chavez Ravine , he is not just a one-trick pony. He can hit everywhere, and there are quite a few contenders around Major League Baseball that should be interested in trading for him before the July 30, 6 p.m. ET trade deadline.

Walker is a free agent after this season, and with the Diamondbacks facing an uphill climb in the National League playoff race, he figures to be one of the top players available.

Let's talk about four teams that should be after him.

    Houston Astros

The Astros are making a rapid climb up the American League West standings and are not going to go away without a fight. But with Jose Abreu's play falling off a cliff, they have a significant hole in their lineup at first base.

According to baseball insider Jon Heyman, Walker is at the top of the Astros' wishlist and would represent a massive upgrade over what they are currently getting from stopgap option Jon Singleton. Walker's .871 OPS is his third consecutive year over the .800 mark, while he is on pace to hit 30 home runs for a third straight year.

    Seattle Mariners

Speaking of American League West teams, the team that is trying to hold off the Astros — Seattle — should also be in the market for Walker if he is available.

The Mariners do not just have a hole at first base. Their entire lineup is a question mark and currently sits 27th in the Major Leagues in runs scored. There is not a single player on their roster having a season that is on the same level as Walker's, and he might instantly become the best hitter in their lineup. They need to do something to hold off the Astros and not give away the division.

    New York Yankees

The Yankees are mired in a month-long slump that has really started to expose their flaws offensively . They are currently using recent call-up Ben Rice at first base in place of the injured Anthony Rizzo, but neither player is the answer for this season.

First base is just one of the many positions the Yankees need to upgrade, and it also happens to be the one with the most potential trade options right now with Walker, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and perhaps even Josh Bell as players likely to be on the block. The Yankees have two MVP candidates in Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, but they cannot carry the team alone. They need help.

    Kansas City Royals

The Royals spent big this offseason on their starting pitching rotation, and it has helped propel them into the American League playoff race.

Now, they need to make a big investment in their offense.

While a rental might not be the ideal solution for them, their pitching staff could make them a formidable playoff opponent. They just need to make sure they get there and have enough offense to make a run if they do.

They have Vinnie Pasquantino playing first base right now, and while he has been good, he is far from the game-changing presence that somebody like Walker could be. His .746 OPS is more than 100 points lower than Walker's, while he has just 10 home runs to Walker's 22.

The Royals could compete if they are willing to make another bold move.
