    Storms and high winds roll through the Valley, thousands without power

    Wind, rain, lightning and even hail were seen across the Valley Wednesday night, as thousands of utility customers are without power.

    The City of Scottsdale officials have closed the north portion of its McDowell Sonoran Preserve (north of Dynamite Boulevard) until further notice due to a wildfire caused by lightning.

    Officials say there is no immediate threat but gusting winds can change rapidly in the area. Residents should pay attention to emergency messaging.

    The closure includes all Preserve lands north of Dynamite Boulevard, including city trailheads at:

    Pima Dynamite
    Brown's Ranch
    Fraesfield
    Granite Mountain
    Neighborhood Access

    Approximately 23,100 customers were reported without power in the Phoenix metro area.

    Some parts of the Valley have already seen almost three quarters of an inch of rain Wednesday night, with the monsoon storms continuing to bring rain.

    ABC15 crews were told by concertgoers that the Kenny Chesney concert was postponed due to weather, they were not told when the country artist would come out and perform.

    A special weather statement was issued for Avondale, Goodyear and Buckeye according to the National Weather Service.

    More than 30,000 APS and SRP customers are without power.

    A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 10:30 p.m., in the East Valley.

    9:48 p.m.

    Phoenix fire says one person is unaccounted for after the roof collapsed at a large commercial building near 43rd Avenue and Van Buren Street.

    A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 10:15 p.m. including areas in Phoenix and Tolleson.

    As of 9 p.m., the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre was monitoring weather in the area. Kenny Chesney was set to preform Wednesday night.
