    Severe weather canceled the Kenny Chesney concert in Phoenix on July 24 before the country star could take the stage.

    The outdoor concert at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre has been rescheduled for Thursday, July 25, and fans should be alert to tonight's potentially stormy weather conditions.

    Shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, the venue shared a post on Facebook saying doors would not open on time “due to potential inclement weather.”

    The post went on to say, “We are actively monitoring the incoming weather and will provide prompt updates when we are able to safely begin entry to Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre.”

    Doors opened at 5:45 p.m.

    Why Kenny Chesney's Phoenix concert was canceled

    Fans waited nearly two hours for Chesney to take the stage Wednesday before a PA announcement that due to “forecasts for lightning to continue throughout the rest of the evening, unfortunately, we will not be able to proceed with the show tonight .”

    Fans at the sold-out concert initially were encouraged to take shelter from thunderstorms headed their way at 8:30 p.m. after Megan Moroney concluded her opening set at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre, an outdoor venue.

    After being told the show would not go on at 10:20 p.m., fans were asked to “please safely proceed to the exits.”

    Weather forecast for Kenny Chesney's rescheduled Phoenix concert

    Early Thursday morning, the National Weather Service in Phoenix issued a severe storm risk for Thursday.

    In a post on X, NWS Phoenix wrote that “scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop along the higher terrain areas once again today, with chances increasing for showers and storms into the lower deserts of south-central Arizona late this afternoon and into the evening hours."

    Later Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Maricopa County starting at 4:20 p.m. The warning expires at 7 p.m.

    In a post on X at 4:20 p.m., NWS Phoenix wrote, "Robust storms continue in the higher terrain to the north & east of Phoenix with some strong-severe storms with wind gusts of 40-60 mph. Storms will continue to move towards the Valley with strong outflow winds expected, with the chance of rain still only 30-40%."

    Thursday's Phoenix weather forecast calls for a high of 109 degrees.

    What to know about Kenny Chesney's rescheduled Phoenix concert

    Less than an hour after sending fans on their way Wednesday night, Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre posted on Instagram and Facebook that the concert would be rescheduled for Thursday and that all tickets would be honored.

    Thursday's rescheduled concert is being billed as "An Evening with Kenny Chesney." Doors open at 5 p.m. Chesney takes the stage at 7 p.m. There’s no opening act.

    Does this mean Chesney will play longer than his usual two hours for fans who waiting out a thunderstorm to see him perform?

    That remains to be seen.

    Refunds for Kenny Chesney's canceled Phoenix concert

    Tickets for Wednesday’s concert will be honored on Thursday, including upgrades and add-ons, such as parking. You won’t need to do anything — just show up.

    Refunds are available at point of purchase.
