Kenny Chesney is providing an update to fans in Phoenix after having to abruptly cancel a concert on Wednesday night.

The country crooner was supposed to perform at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Arizona's capital on Wednesday, July 24, as part of his Sun Goes Down Tour , when severe weather forced him to cancel the show.

But Chesney, 56, took to social media early the following day to let fans know that the show would be rescheduled for Thursday, July 25.

He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "Doors will open at 5pm MST and the show will begin at 7pm MST. All tickets for last night's show will be honored tonight. If you're not able to attend tonight's rescheduled show, refunds will be available until show time tonight at the original point of purchase."

Some fans unable to make the rescheduled show expressed their disappointment in the comments online, including one person who said they were "so bummed" to miss out on seeing Chesney perform.

"Totally bummed but safety comes first!" someone else on X echoed.

But it appears that Wednesday night's cancellation was the right call, as the area ended up being hit with continued lightning.

Opener Megan Moroney was able to perform her set at the outdoor venue, but concertgoers were instructed to take shelter due to rapidly approaching weather before Chesney could take the stage.

According to Country Now , a voice came over the PA system at the venue to announce the severe weather alert, while messages on the screens on each side of the stage instructed audience members to "Please seek shelter in your vehicle until further notice."

Fans who were already taking shelter under the amphitheater's cover were able to remain there before eventually being instructed to safely exit the venue once the show was officially postponed.

Following his rescheduled concert in Phoenix on Thursday, Chesney will continue on with the tour as he makes his next stop in Denver, Colo. on Saturday, July 27.
