    Report released in crash that killed off-duty Pigeon Forge firefighter

    KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — A Tennessee Highway Patrol preliminary report is revealing more information about the motorcycle crash that killed an off-duty Pigeon Forge firefighter on Sunday.

    According to the report, , Aaron Huss , 19, was traveling on I-40 when the crash happened around 8 p.m. The report states that Huss’ 2008 Honda B60 was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

    As the motorcycle was traveling west near mile marker 404.2, it lost control and overturned. The report said Huss was thrown from the bike and came to a rest under the guardrail. The motorcycle reportedly continued to skid, struck a guardrail before crossing back into the lanes of travel and coming to a final rest.

    The report does not state what may have caused the crash.

    The Pigeon Forge Fire Department shared a statement on Wednesday, along with details of Huss’ funeral arrangements.

    “Occasionally, people can enter our lives instantly and change them forever. For the Pigeon Forge Fire Department, that person was Aaron Huss.” The department wrote in part. “Aaron was more than a coworker; he was a beacon of passion and dedication within our ranks. From his early days as a volunteer to his time in the recruit academy and throughout his career as a firefighter, Aaron exemplified unwavering commitment and integrity. His love for the fire service was palpable, and his enthusiasm infectious.

    “To Aaron’s family, friends, and loved ones- we extend our deepest condolences and stand ready to support you during this difficult time. Please keep Aaron’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers as we remember and honor his remarkable life and service.”

    The fire department will be providing Huss with fire service honors at his graveside service.
