BECKLEY, W.Va. — A Pike County travel nurse who has been under investigation for the past two years has now been indicted on federal drug charges. Jacqueline Brewster, 54, of Belfry, has been charged in U.S. District Court in Beckley, W.Va., with obtaining controlled substances by fraud, tampering with consumer products, and wrongfully obtaining individually identifiable health information under false pretenses.

A Tennessee man was arrested and jailed last week after he allegedly struck a parked vehicle and then led officers on a high-speed chase through Williamson. According to Mingo County Magistrate Court documents, on June 21, Harby Geovany Bavios Leiva, 18 — who police said is not a U.S. citizen — was driving a Chevrolet Camaro on Second Avenue when he struck a parked vehicle near the Tracks End restaurant and failed to stop.
