SPRINGFIELD – The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum has won a national “Leadership in History” award for its exhibit exploring the many ways and reasons that people have made Illinois their home over the centuries. The exhibit, “Here I Have Lived: Home in Illinois,” is now available online so that people anywhere in the world can explore the lives of immigrants, Native Americans, future presidents and social activists.

Mayor pushing back on property tax hikes A group of northern Illinois mayors are pushing back after resident’s property tax bills skyrocketed. Harvey Mayor Christopher Clark is included and is pursuing efforts to address the surging property tax bills. Clark said Harvey was one of 15 south suburban communities that saw increases of 30% or more in property taxes. Opponents fear it could further burden nurses and mean fewer jobs for Black registered nurses. Senate Bill 1779 seeks to create a “certified medication aide” program. HURST, IL (KBSI) – Williamson County responded to a traffic collision on July 6 at around 11:53 a.m involving a garbage truck. The garbage truck was traveling South on Illinois State Route 149 when it lost control and collided with an SUV traveling Northbound. It happened near the intersection of Illinois State Route 149 and Lockeyville Road in Hurst, IL.
