Above and beyond: Here are Pine Bush scholar-athletes for 2023-24

The Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. Pine Bush High School selected Ellie Hoppe and Malakai Henry-Geraghty.

Ellie Hoppe

GPA: 99.7

Class Rank: 5

Varsity Sports: Volleyball; softball; Unified basketball

Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: National Honor Society; New York State Seal of Civic Readiness; chief graphic editor of yearbook; Interact Club secretary; received Rotary Youth Leadership Award; received RIT Women in STEM Award; member of New York State Senator James Skoufis' Youth Advisory Council; member of the Mamakating Historical Society; played for Pine Bush volleyball club team for six years

Athletic Honors: Volleyball senior captain; 2023 Section IX Class AAA MVP; 2023 All-Section IX Class AAA first team all-star; 2023 All-State Class AAA First Team all star

Community Service: Volunteer at E.J. Russell Elementary School tutoring ENL students after school; volunteer at Pine Bush Volleyball summer camps; completed over 40 volunteer hours for multiple organizations through Interact Club

Future Plans: University of Delaware, to major in Neuroscience; compete in intramural/club volleyball.
