Babies R Us is making a comeback later this year as 25 Kohl's locations throughout New York will house shops filled with baby essentials. Kohl's announced a partnership with WHP Global, the parent company of Babies R Us, in March to bring "baby gear, furniture, activity and more" to its stores by the fall of 2024.
Popular Movie Company Shutting Down 300 New York Locations
A big name in movies has announced that they are closing 24,000 locations including 300 in New York and 15+ in the Hudson Valley. Earlier this month we told you the DVD movie rental company Redbox which is owned by Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment, had officially filed for bankruptcy protection after experiencing significant financial issues including being unable to meet payroll and an inability to pay employees health insurance.
Turnpike officials warn about a scam targeting Pennyslvanians
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is advising that a “smishing scam” is again being sent to random individuals, aiming to deceive them to share their personal financial information to settle outstanding toll amounts. The texts purport to be from “Pennsylvania Turnpike Toll Services” and center around urgent requests with the account that would result in additional charges if the overdue balance does not get settled. Similar scams have been reported by toll agencies across the country over the past several days. People who receive an unsolicited text, email, or similar message suggesting it is from the PA Turnpike or another toll agency should not click on the link.

In Race 2 at Watkins Glen International, several championship leaders in Ferrari Challenge North America expanded their points gap after securing victories on Sunday. Trofeo Pirelli: Matias Perez Companc (Ferrari of Central Florida) scored another victory this season while crossing the finish line second in the Trofeo Pirelli class. North Pocono Senior Center joins county network
A senior center offering services three days a week in the North Pocono region is now affiliated with the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging. The North Pocono Senior Community Center in Covington Twp. recently joined the county's network, with the Area Agency on Aging funding meals and activities at the center open to all older adults free of charge. The center at 6 John J. Michaels Drive operates Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Towanda man sentenced to up to 5 years in prison for arson
A Towanda man was sentenced to up to five years in a state prison following a conviction for arson. According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 61-year-old Robert Wayne Devine was convicted of arson, reckless burning, following a trial in May. He was recently sentenced to a minimum of 21 months and could serve up to five years in state prison.
Family Safe, Home Damaged After Blaze on Silver Cloud Lane in Knoxville
A house fire that took place Sunday evening in Knoxville has left a residence with severe damage, but thankfully, no injuries were reported. The Knoxville Fire Department responded to a distress call at around 6:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Silver Cloud Lane. An Upstate New York man has been arrested after falling through a ceiling while hiding from police. WETM reports police officers were called to an apartment building in Elmira, N.Y., on Friday night for a report of a wanted person, George Wilson. The Elmira Police Department said officers surrounded the building and tried to make contact with Wilson, who went into hiding.
