2 Local Fire Departments Awarded Funding for Equipment, Training and Supplies
UTICA, N.Y. -- A few upstate fire departments in New York will soon receive a total of $665,310.24 in federal funding. The funding, which was announced by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, will support nine fire departments by providing protective gear, training and supplies for emergency personnel.

State Senator George Borrello presented the New York State Historic Business award to Meeders Restaurant in Ripley to celebrate their incorporation into New York State's Historic Business Preservation Registry. Established by legislation passed in 2020, the Historic Business Registry includes businesses that have been in operation for at least 50 years and have contributed to their communities' history. Borrello nominated Meeder's Restaurant to the registry in 2023 in recognition of their role in helping shape the history, heritage, and identity of the Ripley community.
