The Pine Island Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce this year’s Black Dirt Scholarship winners. The Chamber is awarding four scholarships of $1500 each to students who demonstrate a commitment to and involvement in community volunteer service or community work experience. County Executive Neuhaus Signs Resolution to Purchase Maple Avenue Building in Chester
Goshen, N.Y. – On Monday, Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus officially signed the resolution, entering into an agreement to purchase the Maple Avenue Building located in the Village of Chester. The future of the building has been under consideration for some time, including a failed referendum in 2019 until on July 2nd, the Orange County Legislature moved the process of acquiring ownership along with a unanimous vote.

Some New Yorkers may be eligible for a free air conditioner through New York's expanded Essential Plan program early next year. "As part of Governor Hochul's recently announced Extreme Heat Action Plan, the State's Essential Plan will add coverage for the purchase, delivery and installation of air conditioners for members with persistent asthma," the state Department of Health said. "While this program is currently under development, we intend to perform consumer and provider education and outreach so members know about the benefit."
