PINEHURST — A metal vehicle visor-clip located on a deceased man’s belt that was around his waist stated, “St. Joseph Motorist’s Prayer.”

Also found was a vehicle name plate with the word, “CHEYENNE,” on it.

That information was released to the public Thursday afternoon by the Pinehurst Police Department, which is looking to identify an unidentified black male found in Adam’s Bayou on June 1.

“Officers attempted to recreate the tattoo that was found in the middle of the subject’s chest,” a release from Lieutenant Jocelyn Trussell stated.

“The tattoo was faint and is not an exact representation. Some characters were not easily seen. The photos shared are replicas or recreated. If you have any information about the items found on this subject, or the tattoo, please contact the Pinehurst Police Department at 409-886-2221.”

Pinehurst Police received a report of a deceased person at 10:46 a.m. June 1.

The body was discovered by fishermen.

Pinehurst officers, with the assistance of Orange County Emergency Services District 3, responded to Adams Bayou, south of the Interstate 10 turnaround.

Justice of the Peace Hershel Stagner ordered an autopsy.

The male has a mustache and other facial hair and has a tattoo on his chest.

At this time, there is no foul play suspected, but this case is an ongoing investigation to find his identity.
