Harter’s bond lowered in pandering obscenity of a minor case
GREENVILLE — Kyle W. Harter’s bond was reduced Monday afternoon in the Darke County Common Pleas Court. Judge Travis L. Fliehman presided. Harter, 32, of Greenville appeared in court on a two count indictment for allegedly pandering obscenity, a felony of the second degree, and illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, also a felony of the second degree. Harter was arrested on July 8, 2024 under suspicion of the above allegations after officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Main Street in reference to a sexual offense on July 7.
Three mill levy to be on Phillipsburg ballot
PHILLIPSBURG — Phillipsburg Council members voted on July 16 to put a 5-year, 3 mill operating levy on the November ballot. Mayor Shawna Newsom explained that while the village is able to meet its current expenses, any unusual emergency, such as a natural disaster, would leave the jurisdiction strapped, so “we need a cushion.”
Pitsenbarger to be honored with new memorial
TROY — Airman First Class William Pitsenbarger, who received the prestigious Medal of Honor 34 years after his death, will have a new memorial erected in his honor. The Miami County Commissioners approved a one-time contribution of $25,000 to Miami Memorial Park in Covington, where Pitsenbarger and his parents are buried, at their meeting on Tuesday, July 23.

Animal Control Officers from the Miami County Animal Shelter removed more than 40 cats from Our Farm Sanctuary on Agenbroad Road on Monday, July 15. They executed a search warrant in response to recent complaints filed by a group of past and present volunteers.
Wristbands available July 27 for Versailles FareFest
VERSAILLES — The Versailles FareFest is schedule to take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 17 in downtown Versailles. Though who purchase wristbands to the event will receive a complimentary crystal wine glass while experiencing three hours of unlimited beer, wine and food. This year, multiple Miami Valley restaurants will be featured, along with three live bands. To complement the food, over 40 beers and 100 wine options from wineries and distillers throughout the country will be offered.
Americana Wing and Lowell Thomas exhibit reopens
GREENVILLE — The tornado on May 7 disrupted a lot of lives and caused a lot of damage to a large swath of area in the City of Greenville. Although life has returned to normal for most, the destruction that was caused is still evident. Buildings have yet to be repaired in the City Park, roofs remain covered with blue tarps awaiting roofing crews to become available to make repairs and some are still waiting for trees to be completely cleared.

ARCANUM — The Arcanum Public Library is having a very successful Summer Reading Program. The summer has been filled with reading incentives, prizes, LEGOS, pirate fun, crafts, and more. There will be a party to wrap up the program on Saturday, Aug. 3 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The community is invited to come for outdoor games, balloon animals, face painting, food, and door prizes. Don was born August 28, 1927 in Cincinnati to a paper company truck driver, Harry R., Ronnebaum, and his German wife, Katherine (Storr). During 1930, the couple gave birth to a daughter, but she died of natural causes four years later. They would have no more children. By Don’s 10th birthday, the family had moved to Covington.
