    Crime Roundup: Ayden man charged with drug trafficking

    A months-long investigation led to an Ayden man’s arrest for trafficking cocaine and heroin, the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office reported.

    On July 3 detectives with the sheriff’s office’s Special Operations Unit concluded their investigation into the sale of narcotics with the arrest of Floyd Haddock Jr., 58, at his home at 661 Old Snowhill Road.

    The sheriff’s office said Haddock was charged with three counts of trafficking heroin, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver heroin, eight counts of possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine and maintaining a dwelling for the sale of a controlled substance.

    Haddock was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center under a $1.5 million secured bond.

    Haddock has prior drug crime convictions in Pitt County that include selling Schedule II narcotics from incidents on Nov. 5, 1991, Dec. 2, 1993, Feb. 10, 2004, Feb. 12, 2004 and March 8, 2004.

    Farmville man arrested

    A Pitt County man was charged with armed robbery after he stole a phone, a wig and other items from his ex-girlfriend at a mobile home, according to a warrant and a case report.

    Keith Jerome Burroughs, 53, of 3560 Cobb Dail Road, Farmville, was charged by the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office in connection to a July 3 incident at his residence, a mobile home north of I-587 between Greenville and Farmville.

    A warrant said that Burroughs took a mobile phone, bedroom shoes, a brown wig, a pack of Newport cigarettes and $5 cash from the home while a woman he had been dating was present. Warrants said that Burroughs had a black pistol and that he assaulted the woman, leaving her with a swollen left eye and a laceration to her head.

    Burroughs was arrested on July 10. He is charged with assault serious bodily injury, misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, misdemeanor larceny and robbery with dangerous weapon.

    Burroughs remains in the Pitt County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond.
