    Pieces of Kennywood mural now up for charity auction

    WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (WBOY) — Some recognizable artwork from Kennywood Amusement Park could end up in your living room thanks to a charity auction that began Wednesday morning.

    The Thunderbolt roller coaster, which will be turning 100 years old in 2024, will be getting a new mural as part of “Celebrate Pittsburgh,” a citywide event held in honor of Pittsburgh. The new mural will be created by the park and Wicked Pittsburgh , a group of artists who lend their talents to benefit local causes.

    Instead of destroying the mural, pieces of the original artwork have been put up for auction, with all proceeds going to 412 Food Rescue , a Pittsburgh charity that prevents unused food from going to waste. You can see the pieces of the mural that are up for auction below.
