Cameron Heyward is one of the best Pittsburgh Steelers defenders of the past decade, a stout run defender and solid pass rusher who puts the fear of God into opposing defenses.

The ex-Ohio State Buckeye's preferences for his next possible team have been blown up in media rumors in recent months, with speculatory articles stating that he may want to join two-time NFL Coach of the Year Kevin Stefanski and the Cleveland Browns.

On Wednesday, Heyward decided to clear the air on these rumors.

"I want never want to play for, not only a rival, but a team that's so close that there's such bad blood in there. I don't think I could do that," Heyward said to sports talk show host Jim Rome.

Heyward said the rumors began when he shared with a reporter that he has family in Ohio as well as Georgia. He said that he "could play elsewhere" because of this fact but did not clarify his comments any further at the time.

Heyward said Steelers fans took his comments "very literal" and that the Steelers organization itself was not happy about them either.

The three-time first-team All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler added that those feelings were justified, and clarified his thoughts on the Browns as the interview continued.
