Pittsburgh Steelers Fans Will Be Happy With This 2024 Prediction

The Pittsburgh Steelers were a rather surprising playoff team last season, managing to win 10 games in spite of a carousel under center.

The Steelers have revamped their quarterback room over the last several months, signing Russell Wilson and swinging a trade for Justin Fields while parting ways with all three of their signal-callers from 2023.

But will the change at quarterback be enough for Pittsburgh to make the playoffs in the rugged AFC North?

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport thinks so.

While Davenport admits that the wide receiver position is a question mark for the Steelers outside of George Pickens, he says that a turnover-conscious Wilson should be enough to keep Pittsburgh’s offense afloat. He also likes the defense, which is led by edge rusher T.J. Watt and safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.

He qualifies his prediction by saying that the Steelers’ success will ultimately depend on Wilson, who is coming off of a rather disastrous two-year stint with the Denver Broncos.

The Steelers will have a tough time in the AFC North

The biggest problem for the Steelers may not be their uncertainty under center, nor may it not be their lack of depth at receiver.

It may very well be the in which they play.

The AFC North sent three teams to the playoffs last season, and all four of the clubs within the division finished over .500.

Keep in mind that the Cincinnati Bengals managed to go 9-8 in spite of Joe Burrow missing the back half of the year due to a season-ending wrist inury.

Now, Burrow is back, and the Bengals should be legitimate threats once again.

The division also houses the Baltimore Ravens, who finished with the NFL’s best record last season, and the Cleveland Browns, who won 11 games in spite of shuffling through five different starting quarterbacks.

Deshaun Watson now appears to be healthy for the Browns after seeing his 2023 campaign cut short due to a shoulder injury, so Cleveland should be dangerous.

On paper, Pittsburgh probably has the least talented roster in the AFC North. It does have the benefit of having a great head coach in Mike Tomlin, and if Wilson can turn back the clock to his Seattle Seahawks days, then everything is in play.

Still, I find it hard to put a saddle on the Steelers as a playoff team going into 2024. There are just too many variables, and the division is just too difficult.
