Vaughn pleaded guilty on May 6, 2024, and will need to spend at least one year in prison before he is eligible for parole.

Members of the Fayetteville Police Department held a traffic stop of a Jeep for following other cars too closely on U.S. Route 19 on July 10, 2021. Vaughn was driving the jeep, and when dealing with Vaughn the officer smelled marijuana from inside the car.

Vaughn acknowledged that he had marijuana in his possession, and another officer saw what looked like controlled substances and other drug paraphernalia in plain view in the jeep.

A search of the jeep revealed more than 1,000 pills packaged in different containers. Testing at the West Virginia State Police Laboratory revealed that the pills contained methamphetamine, which is a schedule II controlled substance.
