One Pittsburgh Steelers veteran had a message for Russell Wilson before the quarterback signed with his new team.

The Steelers inked Wilson to a one-year contract in March after the QB was stunningly being released by the Denver Broncos two years into his five-year, $245 million deal.

Before Wilson signed on the dotted line , the nine-time Pro Bowler had an intimate conversation with Steelers All-Pro Cam Heyward.

On a Thursday appearance on FanDuel TV's "Up & Adams," Heyward shared what he told Wilson back in March. The two were both at a conference in Arizona when Heyward warned Wilson regarding what Pittsburgh was all about.

"The main thing that I told him was just this isn't the place for glitz and glamour," Heyward said of his conversation with Wilson.

"It's not L.A. It's not Atlanta. This is a place where the gladiators come and we're going to compete everyday. Just hearing from him, he was receptive to that. He wanted to compete."

Heyward added that since getting to know Wilson, the QB has proven to be a good fit with the squad. Heyward mentioned that Wilson was a positive influence in particular toward the Steelers' younger players.

Wilson was not exactly the most popular player with the Broncos. On the Steelers, the 35-year-old has a chance to rehabilitate his reputation.
