5 Bold Predictions for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024

The Pittsburgh Steelers have always been one of the NFL’s leading teams.

While they have a rich history and sit atop the list of most NFL Championships with the Patriots, their recent performances have been underwhelming.

Mike Tomlin has been able to get Pittsburgh into the playoffs successfully in the recent few years, but they have been struggling to advance past the Wild Card Round which is something they will be looking to change this year.

In a stacked AFC North division that consists of the Baltimore Ravens led by the two-time MVP Lamar Jackson, the Cincinnati Bengals led by Joe Burrow, and the Cleveland Browns, the Steelers have their work cut out for sure.

But, here are five bold predictions for Pittsburgh for the upcoming 2024 season.

Jaylen Warren Outrushes Najee Harris

Jaylen Warren who is the number two running back for the Steelers will have a breakout year. Competing for the number one spot behind Najee Harris, Warren will outshine Harris and run for more yards by the end of the season.

Harris who is in his contract year will already be motivated to maintain his record of over 1,000 rushing yards per season which will give rise to a healthy but fun competition between the two backfield players.

Russell Wilson Throws For 4,000 Yards

Russell Wilson’s struggles from the past three years have been well documented by now. After struggling in his last season in Seattle, his move to Denver in 2022 was a complete disaster. He now has several fans and experts believing that his best days are well and truly behind him.

However, at 35 years of age, Wilson may still have three to four good years ahead of him. With a change in scenery and working under Mike Tomlin, Wilson will get his career back on track as he finishes the year with over 4,000 passing yards once again.

T.J. Watt Breaks The Sacks Record

T.J. Watt is a sack machine for the Pittsburgh Steelers who, when healthy, is a nightmare to deal with. Having come ever so close to breaking the sack record of 22.5 in one season, Watt will be eyeing glory come 2024.

2023 was another big year for the youngest Watt brother when he finished with 19 sacks from 17 games. Narrowly missing out on yet another Defensive Player of the Year Award, Watt will come out more focused and hungry for success in his pursuit of 23 sacks in a single season.

Payton Wilson Becomes A Starter From Week 7

The Steelers have already signed former Raven’s star linebacker Patrick Queen in this offseason. Alongside him, rookie linebacker Payton Wilson will earn a starting spot on the team by Week 7.

Wilson has the attributes of becoming a great player in the NFL and his selection in round three of the 2024 NFL draft felt like a steal for the Steelers. His 2023 performance for the North Carolina State Wolfpack earned him the Butkus Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award as the top-rated linebacker and defensive player in college.

Steelers Finish Last Eight Games With A 6-2 Record

The 2024 Steelers schedule is one of the toughest schedules especially in the second half of the season. As a matter of fact, all of their divisional battles are from weeks 11 to 18 with difficult games against the Eagles and Chiefs in between.

That means from week 11 till the end of the regular season, the Steelers face the Ravens, Bengals, and Browns twice each as well as one game against Philadelphia and Kansas City each. Furthermore, they are also one of the teams that has a horrible Christmas schedule as they play two games in four days.

The Steelers will power through this tough patch of games and come out with a 6-2 record taking them to the playoffs once again in 2024-25.
