Survey the landscape of the NFL community and you will find few that believe the Pittsburgh Steelers are Super Bowl contenders.

But inside the building, or in this case, the dorms at Saint Vincent, the Steelers and their QB Russell Wilson are on a mission.

He wasn't afraid to share that with everyone else.

Wilson Sets His Sights On A Super Bowl

"Our mission is to win it all, to win the Super Bowl," Wilson told the media when the Steelers reported to camp on Wednesday. "But we've got to do the work necessary. It doesn't just happen overnight. That's in our control."

As Wilson approaches his 13th season and age 36 campaign, he knows his time to hoist another Lombardi is limited. Often noted for being overly positive or an eternal optimist, Wilson understands things didn't go to plan in Denver, and he plans on changing that in Pittsburgh.

"Internally, your expectations for yourself have to be higher than everyone else's," Wilson said. "I remember when I was a rookie, I was a third-round pick, the 75th pick overall. I was the third-string quarterback on the roster. I was determined I was going to take that job. That's got to be the mentality every day. That's the mentality every day. Try to be your best. God has given me a ton of talent. Anyone that's here staying in those dorms has a ton of talent. How do we make the most of that? You do it with great confidence and composure and an edge when you play."

Not only does Wilson have a chip on his shoulder following the way things ended in Denver, but the QB room in Pittsburgh leaves no rest for the weary.

Wilson might be the starter on the depth chart , as the idea of a QB competition has been greatly exaggerated , but Justin Fields is no slouch. Any slip-up and Pittsburgh will be opting for youth over veteran leadership.

But that leadership is what enticed Pittsburgh so much in the first place. It carried over this offseason, with members of the team putting in extra reps with Wilson.

"We got a lot of work in. That's the good part of the offseason. You get that time and attention by throwing a bunch," Wilson said when asked about spending time with his teammates. "We threw a bunch at UCLA and San Diego, spent some time together, going to dinner, just hanging out and having a blast, working out in the weight room and just getting after it. We're excited about that. That time and attention will pay off."

His teammates, coaches and all of Pittsburgh are just hoping that Wilson's mission of winning a Super Bowl is the payoff.
