A 51-year-old was man gunned down in broad daylight Wednesday in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood.

It happened around 3:45 p.m. in front of the Triangle Mart convenience store on Amanda Avenue.

“He was shot in the chest one time, ran around to the back of the building where he collapsed,” said Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Cara Cruz.

According to police, the victim ran in the back door of the convenience store.

As he was collapsing, investigators say he told people in the store who shot him.

Officers are now following that lead.

“They’ve relayed that information to police and that’s what they’ll be following up on,” Cruz said.

The man was rushed to the hospital where he died. He was later identified as Anthony Walker, from Pittsburgh.

It’s still unclear what led up to the shooting.

“I just got here right as it happened,” said Stephanie Sikora. She tells Channel 11 she knew the man who was killed, calling him “Tone.”

She just happened to be coming to Triangle Mart when she saw him loaded into an ambulance.

“He was a good person. He didn’t bother anybody. He didn’t deserve that,” Sikora said.

She is fed up with the violence that continues to hit her neighborhood.

“It’s just another friend gone. It’s all the time here. It’s never-ending. It’s all the time,” Sikora said. “It’s senseless. To lose your life over nothing.”

Police still have not publicly named any suspects or announced any arrests.
