NFL Analyst Reveals Why Russell Wilson Injury Is The ‘Best Thing That Ever Happened’ To Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an interesting quarterback battle, with Russell Wilson and Justin Fields battling it out. Both were offseason acquisitions and trying to revitalize their careers.
The Denver Broncos moved on from Wilson and selected Bo Nix, while the Chicago Bears traded away Justin Fields to select Caleb Williams with the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Now, Wilson and Fields are going head-to-head for the QB1 job. However, Wilson suffered a calf injury at training camp that could end up giving fields the upper hand in the race.
While the Fields-Wilson debate is a good one, NFL analyst Adam Schein called the veteran's injury the "best thing that ever happened" to the Steelers.
"The Russell Wilson injury was the best thing that ever happened to the Steelers. I love Justin Fields in general...They need to start Justin Fields. This Russell Wilson injury should be the best thing that ever happened."
Schein went into more detail and made his thoughts of Wilson perfectly clear.
"This is not salad days Seattle Russell Wilson. This is Denver Broncos' retread and reject version of Russell Wilson. Russ is cooked."

Schein's X post even said it was a "blessing" for the Steelers that Wilson got injured, which is quite a strong statement.
It remains to be seen exactly who will be the Steelers starting quarterback for Week 1. However, Schein mentioned that Adam Schefter reported Fields was opening eyes at camp, which could hint that they are excited about the youngster's potential to elevate the offense.
On the other hand, Mike Tomlin did mention recently that Wilson was in "pole position" to get the job, but the injury could change things if Fields continues to impress.
Nonetheless, the Justin Fields-Russell Wilson battle is one to keep an eye on heading into the regular season.
