MADISON TWP. — Michigan might be experiencing a hot summer, but it’s nothing like what Madison graduate Caylan Sower is about to experience. Sower is enrolled at the University Arizona and will begin her nursing classes next month. The temperature in Tucson averages 101 degrees in July and 100 in August.
Adrian pastor accused of child molestation
ADRIAN — A Lenawee County minister was arraigned Monday afternoon in Lenawee district court on two criminal sexual conduct charges following his arrest Saturday. The second-degree felony charges against Michael Ronald Goble filed in 2A District Court specify victims younger than age 13 and that the specific offenses occurred in November, 2021, court records show. But a statement from Adrian police said more charges are likely forthcoming, with potential locations of significance including the Maurice Spears Juvenile Campus, Church of the Good Shepherd, and Mr. Goble’s home. “Based on the totality of investigation thus far, more victims are believed to exist that have not yet been identified,” the police statement said.
Tate collects Academic All-American honors
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The College Sports Communicators have selected Spring Arbor University men's bowler Caleb Tate to the 2024 NAIA Academic All-America® Team. Tate was picked to the Academic All-America® Second Team after a national vote by the College Sports Communicators. He earlier was honored as a CSC Academic All-District® selection before advancing to the national ballot. Tate was one of 21 individuals recognized across the NAIA and was the only Crossroads League athlete to make the at-large list. Police identify Jackson County woman killed in crash with semitruck
JACKSON COUNTY, MI – Police have identified the woman who was killed in a crash with a semitruck in Concord Township. Jamie Fryman, 42, died Friday afternoon, July 12, after suffering fatal injuries in a crash at the intersection of M-60 and Main Street in Concord, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

JACKSON -- The 2023-24 school year has come and gone, the sports seasons for high school teams have wrapped up, and all the trophies have been distributed to their new homes. The last honor to award is the MLive Ultimate State Champion. Nearly a decade ago, MLive’s Steve Kaminski developed the formula to determine which school had the best year across all sports. Though we lost Steve in December 2022, we carry on his legacy with the award.

Thomas M. Griffith, age 60 years of Tecumseh, formerly of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on July 15, 2024 at his home. He was born on October 8, 1963 in Monroe, the son of Gerald and Anne K. (Sklenak) Griffith. Tom graduated from Monroe High School in 1982 and earned his associates degree.
