PITTSTON – After many months of planning, the Greater Pittston Santa Squad’s (GPSS) highly anticipated Christmas in July is less than a week away. Over the last four years, many deem it to be the party of the summer.

Anthony Marranca, GPSS founder and president, said everything is set and in place and he’s looking forward to the best Christmas in July to date at the Susquehanna Brewing Co. from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13.

“Christmas in July is a critical for our existence and is one of the two major fundraisers we hold each year in order to purchase toys for the children of Greater Pittston,” Marranca said. “Not only does the event greatly help us, but it’s a chance for us to give back to the community by throwing a great party for supporters.”

If you enjoy live music, local legendary band Mere Mortals returns as the featured act with Unpolished as the opening band.

There are door prizes to be offered as well as raffles including a Yeti Cooler filled with cheer, 50/50 and more.

“We are, once again, excited to see so many restaurants stepping up and donating food for the event,” Marranca added. “We have 25 top area restaurants providing food which allows us to collect as much money as we can for the children. Honestly, we couldn’t do this without the support from our area restaurants. A big thank you to them.”

Marranca said all proceeds from the event stay right here in Greater Pittston and some surrounding area children to purchase new toys, bicycles, and clothing for Christmas.

Last year the GPSS helped 1,532 children. This year, Marranca is hoping to match or better last year’s numbers.

The cost for admittance for Christmas in July is $30, which includes a food buffet and two beers.

Tickets may be purchased using Venmo at https://venmo.com/u/GreaterPittston-SantaSquad or by paying at the door on the day of the event.

For information, contact Tony Marranca at 570-299-0086.
