    Man shot in the head during home invasion in Queens: sources

    WOODSIDE, Queens (PIX11) — A man was shot in the head during a home invasion in Queens last week, according to police and sources.

    Four armed robbers entered the house near 65th Street and 75th Avenue in Woodside and fired several shots before striking the 26-year-old resident in the head at around 11:45 a.m. on Aug. 7, according to NYPD and sources. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.

    The suspects stole jewelry before taking off in a black minivan, police said. There have been no arrests.

    It was unclear if anyone else was in the home. Police believe the home was targeted but were unclear why.

    There have been 125 robberies in the same Queens area this year, compared to 129 in 2023, according to NYPD data. The stats show that citywide robberies are down 3.4% as of Aug. 4 compared to the same time last year.
