    NEW YORK (PIX11) – A 4.4-magnitude earthquake rocked the Los Angeles area on Monday, according to the United States Geological Survey.

    Several smaller quakes with magnitudes between 2.5 and 3.1 rattled the U.S. from Hawaii to New Mexico between Monday and Tuesday, per the USGS.

    Did an earthquake also hit New York City this week?

    No earthquakes rattled the Big Apple on Monday or Tuesday, according to USGS. The last earthquake that hit the tri-state area had a magnitude of 2.2 and struck around 35 miles away from Trenton on July 31.

    In April, a 4.8-magnitude earthquake rattled New York City and the tri-state area. Around 42 million people felt the shaking as far south as Washington, D.C. , and as far north as the New York-Canada border.

    Buildings in New York and New Jersey swayed side to side during the April earthquake, but no serious structural damage was reported.
