The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC) announced at a press conference on Tuesday the launch of its pilot program “Sober Ride Home,” which aims to lessen the number of impaired driving incidents by offering free rideshare vouchers for those consuming alcohol at local bars and restaurants.

It’s supposed to end around 4 p.m. People in the Carlisle and North Middleton Township areas may hear loud sounds and see an emergency response by Cumberland County authorities. Role players and mannequins will be used as pretend injured people. There will be a lockdown drill, and traffic delays are possible in the area.

Homeowners hit with pricey sidewalk repairs in Cumberland County borough’s paving project
About a month ago, Cortney Bench noticed Mechanicsburg borough workers spray painting pink marks on the sidewalk in front of her home on Broad Street. The workers told her husband the borough was preparing for a paving project, but first the sidewalks needed to be fixed. Two weeks later, the couple received a bill for $4,000. Bench’s mother, Brenda Miller, who lives near her, got a bill for an eye-popping $9,200.
