Our Lady of Guadalupe Church celebrates Mass before Fiesta Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - On Sunday Morning, parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church came to a very different service. It celebrated Fiesta Topeka with a special band. “It’s tradition. We always open Fiesta Week with a Mass and close it with a Mass,” said Deborah Ortega, an organizer of Fiesta Topeka.

Dirt work resumes for Emporia’s next hotel
Dirt work has resumed for a new hotel in northwest Emporia. Planning has been underway for months to build a new Fairview hotel facility at 3010 Eaglecrest, the former Montana Mike’s location. The plan is for a nearly 90-room hotel and convention center. Work is beginning three months after the Emporia City Commission approved a development agreement in April — and after the city granted Community Improvement District status for that property and the Hampton Inn next door at 2900 Eaglecrest.
