New executive director for Boys State
The American Legion Department of Kansas Boys State Committee has appointed Kyle Wheatley to serve as the executive director of the American Legion Boys State of Kansas. Wheatley’s term began on July 1. He takes over for Tom Wierman who served in the role for the past four years.

The heat wave will last one more day before we get a break in the high temperatures. A heat advisory will be in effect for southeast Kansas, most of Oklahoma, southern Missouri and all of Arkansas today. The advisories start between 11 and 1 p.m. and will last until 8 p.m. Coffeyville is expected to see a high of 99 with a heat index up to 109 today.
