Absence of Teevens leaves keen sense of void at annual Manning Passing Academy
If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a legion of people to replace Buddy Teevens at the Manning Passing Academy. For 26 years, Teevens was a fixture at the Manning Passing Academy. He was there from the beginning. Teevens was the head coach at Tulane when the Mannings, the first family of football, decided to start a camp to teach young quarterbacks various aspects of the passing game.
East Ascension ready for challenge with Matherne
East Ascension football starts anew in 2024 with Brock Matherne, the 12th coach in the history of the program. Matherne has an understanding of what it takes to be a state champion, having played a key role in Belle Chasse winning the Class 4A state title as an outstanding defensive back in 2008. He previously served as an assistant coach at South Lafourche and at John Ehret.
