NEW ORLEANS (press release) – Ogden Museum of Southern Art first launched Louisiana Contemporary, presented by The Helis Foundation in 2012, to establish a vehicle that would bring to the fore the work of artists living in Louisiana and highlight the dynamism of art practice throughout the state. Since the inaugural exhibition 13 years ago, Ogden Museum has shown works by over 560 artists, making Louisiana Contemporary an important moment in the national arts calendar to recognize and experience the spectrum and vitality of artistic voices emanating from New Orleans and in art communities across Louisiana.
Nicholls’ Colonel Caravan Engages Communities Across the Region
Join in as the Colonel Caravan makes its way to cities across the region, with three upcoming stops. The 2024 Colonel Caravan, hosted by the Colonel Athletic Association, Nicholls Alumni Federation, and Nicholls Foundation, began at Big Mike’s BBQ in Houma in July. This event allows the university to engage with various communities and includes a meet-and-greet with alums, donors, Nicholls coaches, and administrators. The events are open to all alums, donors, and season ticket holders. Attendees can enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and Nicholls giveaways, and it is recommended that they wear business casual attire.

Baton Rouge police investigating shooting that left one hurt
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department is investigating a Monday shooting that left one person injured near Scenic Highway. Officers were called to a shooting in the 900 block of Marsh Street around 2:05 p.m. Monday, July 22. Police said a shooting victim was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle. They said his injuries were not life-threatening.
