The 2nd day of the Sacramento Futures Championships saw Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics 16-year-old Kelsey Zhang ripped a new personal best of 4:48.82 en route to winning the women’s 400 IM by a considerable margin. Zhang’s previous best of 4:51.14 was set back in May at the PC SCSC George Haines International meet. Last night, Zhang swam a very balanced race, splitting 1:04.44 on fly, 1:16.99 on back, 1:22.56 on breast, and 1:04.83 on free. Canyons Aquatic Club 14-year-old Emma Hussein had a heck of a swim for 2nd as well, touching in 4:53.05. That performance blew away her personal best of 4:56.43, which the youngster had just set at the LA Invite about 3 weeks ago.
