Hope Reno County is Saturday
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Annual Hope Reno County event is happening at the Kansas State Fairgrounds later this week. "It's a free event that happens Saturday, July 27th," said Matt Stafford with Convoy of Hope. "We will open the gates, which is Gate 5 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, and there's going to be a ton of things that we're going to be giving away. One of them is backpacks, elementary kids and middle school, high school kids. We're going to have two different backpacks and also free groceries, and there may be some other items. There's going to be some snow cones there while you're waiting in line.

Kansas fugitive captured at hotel in Colorado due back in court
PUEBLO COUNTY — A wanted Kansas suspect captured at a motel in Colorado is scheduled to return to a Kansas courtroom on Monday. Ryan Antalek, 40, Wichita, is charged with criminal discharge of a firearm, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, stalking, two counts of criminal threat, and criminal damage to property, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Youth Nab Titles at Bob Hines Swine Classic
More than 100 Kansas youth from 32 counties exhibited 250 pigs in the 2024 Dr. Bob Hines Swine Classic this month in Manhattan. Youth had the opportunity to compete in a skillathon contest, photography contest and showmanship, in addition to prospect and market hog classes. Jacob’s Radar: Wildfire smoke staying just west of KC
Over 1 million acres have been burned by wildfires so far this year, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. There are currently 60 large fires active nationwide, with 10 new fires in the last few days. Just like the last several summers, widespread smoke from these wildfires is impacting parts of the Plains and Midwest. However, for now the smoke plume is just northwest of the Kansas City region.
