POCATELLO — The driver of a pickup truck was rushed to the hospital on Friday morning after a collision with a compact SUV on the city's west bench.

The crash between the Ford pickup truck and Subaru Forester on Rocky Point Road occurred around 9:20 a.m. The impact sent the pickup careening off the road, down a gulley and then down a hillside.

The pickup finally came to a stop amid several trees about 100 yards off the road.

The pickup truck's adult male driver was unconscious when Pocatello police arrived on the scene.

He was removed from the pickup and transported via Pocatello Fire Department ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center for treatment.

His name and condition haven't been released but police said he is from the local area.

Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Further details on the crash aren't yet available from authorities.

The accident remains under investigation by Pocatello police.
