    ORIGINAL STORY

POCATELLO — A motorcyclist is dead after a crash at a north Pocatello intersection early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. at Yellowstone Avenue and Flandro Drive.

The adult male motorcyclist died at the scene. His name hasn't yet been released but authorities said he is from Pocatello.

The crash shut down Flandro Drive for several hours on Sunday morning.

Pocatello police haven't yet released details about the crash because they're still investigating what happened.

The crash left parts of the motorcycle scattered over a large area including the adjacent Courtesy Ford car dealership parking lot.

It appeared that one of the cars for sale at the dealership got struck by the motorcycle after it left the roadway.

Both the motorcycle and the body of the motorcyclist were next to each other in a grassy area along Flandro Drive on the Courtesy Ford property when an Idaho State Journal correspondent arrived on the scene early Sunday morning.

The motorcycle suffered so much damage during the accident that it was nearly severed in half.

Police are currently trying to reconstruct the accident and haven't confirmed that the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the initial crash.
